ⓘ Product ETA: Call for ETA
Born from a long lineage and musical heritage, the acoustic guitar is steeped in tradition. But music continues to evolve, and musicians demand inspiring new tools with which to carve out their own signature sound. In that spirit, we introduce Ibanez AE, our flagship series of acoustic-electric guitars, offer supreme tone and playability, and represent another great chapter in the acoustic guitar tradition.
Platinum is inherently rare, objectively valuable, and unequivocally striking in appearance. These qualities are sought after in many things, including the world of luthiery and instrument building. To this end, we strived to create something entirely new, a series of instruments imbued with old-world, hand-built, and rarified qualities. This is a line of acoustic guitars unlike any we’ve produced before; The Ibanez Platinum collection. Utilizing the highest-quality woods and crafted with uncompromising attention to detail, these instruments represent the highest pinnacle of design and tone for Ibanez Acoustic Guitars.
The AP11 pickup is small, lightweight, and positioned so it won’t inhibit the natural vibrations of the top wood. The pickup generates a highly responsive sound with minimal feedback and delivers a lively response throughout the entire frequency range. The sound is transparent and reflects the guitar’s natural acoustic tone while preserving presence and mid-range. The AP11 also works well with effects such as reverb, chorus, and many others. The T-bar under-saddle pickup reduces noise and provides wide range of natural piezo-style sound. It also captures palm hits and delivers a bass drum-like response. Since it’s placed on the neck block, the Ibanez Block contact pickup is resistant to feedback and evenly captures percussive sound from the body to the neck. It also adds air and brightness to the piezo-style sound by capturing acoustic tones from within the body. The Contact pickup consists of three transducers facilitating organic individual note clarity and naturally reproduces percussive body tapping techniques. This pickup also adds an airy depth of tone and brightness to the amplified sound. Ibanez Custom Electronics amplify the signal of each pickup naturally throughout the entire tonal spectrum. Blending the sound of the three pickups allows the player to create a variety of tones to suit their particular playing style or genre of music.
In order to achieve supreme playability, the neck was specially designed with Thin-C shape style comfort grip with fingerboard's rounded edge. “Advanced Comfort Grip” neck shape is an Ibanez original that feels “just right” to most players. Part of its excellent feel is due to its purposeful asymmetry from the 1st fret to the 7th fret. After the 7th fret, the neck becomes symmetrical up to the body. The lightweight, scalloped bridge improves vibration efficiency for better resonance, as well as providing more flexibility in adjusting the action than usual bridge. Luminescent side dot inlays line the side of the neck for more easily navigating the fretboard in low light environments. The jumbo frets support easy fingering in a 5-piece neck construction that boasts increased stability.
After spending years of trial-and-error, Ibanez realized the out-of-the-box X-M Bracing to generate the ultimate sound standing out on the stage. The carefully designed scalloped X-bracing, the allocation of tone braces, and finger braces transmit the string vibration efficiently through the bridge to the body. The X-M Bracing creates the clear bottom and crispy treble sound with trimmed warm mid-range, yet provides a wide dynamic range and high response.
