Universal Audio Volt 4P Max USB Audio Interface

The Universal Audio Volt 4P Max is a compact 12-in/6-out USB audio interface designed for recording, mixing, mastering, streaming, and mobile production. It combines 32-bit converters operating at up to 192kHz with four Tone Shaping Preamps, Max Processing, Auto-Gain, Clip Protection, a full-colour Smart Display, speaker switching, ADAT expansion, MIDI connectivity, loopback, and USB bus-powered operation.

Its four Tone Shaping Preamps provide up to 60dB of gain, with three selectable character modes on each channel. Warmth adds the rounded glow of a tube preamp, Focus brings the clarity of a solid-state design, and Shine delivers the open character of a British Class A circuit. Max Processing adds onboard compression with six push-button presets for vocals, guitars, and bass, modelled on the LA-2A and 1176, providing 18 character combinations. Independent 48V phantom power is available on each channel.

Auto-Gain sets recording levels quickly, while Clip Protection helps catch unexpected peaks before they affect a take. The full-colour Smart Display provides at-a-glance feedback on inputs, levels, settings, and gain reduction. Four mic/line combo inputs and two front-panel hi-Z instrument inputs support a range of recording setups, while ADAT or S/PDIF optical input provides up to eight additional digital channels. MIDI In and Out connections provide connectivity for controllers, keyboards, and synths.

The Volt 4P Max also features Main and Alt speaker switching for checking mixes through two sets of stereo monitors, along with built-in loopback and a talkback microphone for recording and communication. It integrates with the UAD Console app and LUNA for session recall and low-latency cue mixes, and includes the UAD Volt Studio bundle with 15+ UAD plugins and instruments, LUNA, Melodyne Essential, and additional software. USB bus-powered operation provides flexibility for desktop and portable recording setups.
