Universal Audio Volt 2 Max USB Audio Interface

The Universal Audio Volt 2 Max is a compact 10-in/4-out USB audio interface designed for professional recording, mixing, mastering, streaming, and mobile production. It combines 32-bit converters operating at up to 192kHz with dual Tone Shaping Preamps, onboard Max Processing, Auto-Gain, Clip Protection, a full-colour Smart Display, loopback, ADAT expansion, MIDI connectivity, and USB bus-powered operation.

The dual Tone Shaping Preamps provide up to 60dB of gain, with three selectable character modes on each channel. Warmth adds the rounded character of a tube preamp, Focus delivers solid-state clarity, and Shine provides the open character of a British Class A circuit. Max Processing adds onboard compression with six push-button presets for vocals, guitars, and bass, with models based on the LA-2A and 1176 for 18 character combinations. Independent 48V phantom power is available on each channel.

Auto-Gain sets recording levels quickly, while Clip Protection helps catch unexpected peaks before they affect a recording. The full-colour Smart Display provides at-a-glance feedback on inputs, levels, settings, and gain reduction. Two mic/line combo inputs and two front-panel hi-Z instrument inputs support simultaneous recording, while ADAT or S/PDIF optical input provides up to eight additional digital channels. MIDI In and Out connections support controllers, keyboards, and synths.

The Volt 2 Max features built-in loopback for blending live sources with computer audio and includes a built-in talkback microphone for communication with performers. It integrates with the UAD Console app and LUNA for session recall and low-latency cue mixes, while two headphone outputs support tracking with a collaborator. The included UAD Volt Studio bundle provides 15+ UAD plugins and instruments, plus LUNA, Melodyne Essential, and additional software.
