Built for close-miking, the SD-1 features an internal shockmount and built-in windscreen to reduce distracting handling noise and plosives. Passive low-cut and articulation boost switches on the rear of the microphone provide convenient tone shaping at the source. The low-cut filter reduces rumble below 200Hz, while the articulation boost adds presence between 3-5kHz for greater vocal clarity and definition.

The SD-1 also includes Hemisphere microphone modeling technology, providing access to five classic dynamic and ribbon microphone models. Proximity, axis, and filter controls let you fine-tune the modeled sound before or after recording, giving you additional tonal flexibility without needing to reposition the microphone or record another take.

Compatible Universal Audio Apollo users can also take advantage of included Apollo Channel Strip Presets, providing professionally voiced EQ and compression settings for broadcasting, vocals, guitar, and other sources. A compatible Universal Audio Apollo audio interface is required to access the Apollo Channel Strip Presets.
