A rosewood-bodied J-45 Workhorse
The J-45™ is a truly legendary guitar. Introduced in 1942, it quickly earned its nickname “The Workhorse.” Gibson’s best-selling acoustic model of all time, it has become the cornerstone of the round-shoulder dreadnought line. The J-45 Standard 12-String heralds a sonic expansion to that familiar formula with a full, chiming voice, and now comes equipped with the Gibson-exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ pickup system for amplified sound that preserves the guitar’s character and every nuance of your playing.
The J-45 Standard 12-String features a round-shoulder dreadnought body crafted with solid mahogany back and sides paired with a solid Sitka spruce top. Scalloped X-bracing supports the top, while multi-ply binding frames the top and single-ply binding outlines the back. This proven tonewood combination and construction provide a strong foundation for the shimmer, depth, and natural chorus effect created by its 12-string configuration, adding width and definition to strummed chords, picked passages, and open-position voicings without changing the comfortable round-shoulder format that defines the J-45. A gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish completes the classic Workhorse appearance.
The mahogany neck has a fast, comfortable SlimTaper™ profile and is attached to the body with a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint using hot hide glue. Its wider, 1.88-inch bone nut provides the spacing needed for the 12-string configuration, while the Indian rosewood fretboard has a 12-inch radius, 20 standard frets, and mother-of-pearl dot inlays. Nickel-plated Grover® Mini Rotomatic® tuners provide smooth, precise adjustment across all 12 strings.
The reverse-belly bridge is crafted from rosewood and fitted with a TUSQ® saddle and bridge pins. A tortoiseshell teardrop pickguard completes the familiar J-45 aesthetic.
Inside, the J-45 Standard 12-String is now equipped with the all-new Gibson-exclusive Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ pickup system. This active system uses two lightweight sensors mounted on the internal bridge plate. The sensors are matched with optimized individual preamps to deliver full-bodied, amplified acoustic tone that lets the guitar’s character and personality come through when amplified, with no impact on the unamplified tone. The Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ system offers comparable gain-before-feedback to an under-saddle pickup. The system also includes soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls that are quick and easy to access while playing, and all but invisible to your audience.
The J-45 Standard 12-String brings the inimitable chime and dimension of a 12-string voice to Gibson’s world-famous Workhorse. It comes ready for the stage and studio in a Gibson hardshell case.

- Delivery to Remote/ Rural Areas
Customers outside of Australian Metro areas please be advised that we cannot offer free shipping on bulky items to certain rural areas.
If this applies to your order we will be in contact ASAP after checkout. This may result in a partial shipping cost after checkout or orders being refunded and cancelled due to our usual courier services being unable to service certain rural areas.
We apologise in advance if this affects you. Please feel free to contact us prior to checkout for more information.
Drop Ship Orders Drop ship orders are shipped directly from our Australian based suppliers. Please allow for 1-2 extra business days for drop ship orders to be dispatched.
Delivery Time Orders are dispatched within 1 -2 business days and usually takes 2-5 business days to arrive within Australia. If for any reason there may be a delay, we will contact you within 2 business days. Delivery times may take longer for rural/ remote areas.
If you have any concerns, or require an item to be delivered by a certain date, please contact us so that we can try our best help you receive your order on time.

Returns Procedure

Once your return is received and inspected, we will be in contact to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund. If you are approved, we will process the return as a refund, exchange or store credit as quickly as possible.
30-Day Returns Policy Here at Sky Music, we want you to be 100% happy with your purchase. If you are not satisfied with your new product for any reason you may return it for a refund, exchange or store credit within 30 days of purchase. For metro-Melbourne orders we charge a flat rate of $18 for change of mind swaps and exchanges & returns and staff will advise for interstate, rural and Victorian areas outside of the metro-Melbourne area.
