Camphor laurel was introduced into Australia from Asia in 1822 where it was planted as a garden ornamental throughout Queensland and New South Wales. Camphor laurel is an attractive shade tree, but has a reputation as a very destructive tree as it aggressively replaces native vegetation.
This species is now prolific around South East Qld and Northern NSW and for generations has been used extensively amongst fine furniture makers due to its striking grain, workability and stability. Its use as a tone wood is not widely known as the timber is not commercially harvested like some of the more common Australian species.
After using Camphor Laurel for many years as a tone wood, applying different voicing techniques and experimenting with variables like density, mass and specific colour selection, we have been able to refine the very best of what Camphor Laurel has to offer as a musical tone wood.
Camphor Laurel yields a crisp yet warm mid-range leaning slightly more to the bass side. A great tonal choice for strummers and flat pickers alike. The striking visual features of Camphor Laurel also make it a great choice for musicians looking for something a little more unique as each back and side set yields bold colour variations. Best of all, by utilising Camphor Laurel as a tone wood we like to think that we are helping restore our native vegetation one guitar at a time!

Orders that may incur a shipping surcharge:
Customers outside of Australian Metro areas please be advised that we cannot offer free shipping on bulky items to certain rural areas.
If this applies to your order we will be in contact ASAP after checkout. This may result in a partial shipping cost after checkout or orders being refunded and cancelled due to our usual courier services being unable to service certain rural areas.
We apologise in advance if this affects you. Please feel free to contact us prior to checkout for more information.
Drop Ship Orders Drop ship orders are shipped directly from our Australian based suppliers. Please allow for 1-2 extra business days for drop ship orders to be dispatched.
Delivery Time Orders are dispatched within 1 -2 business days and usually takes 2-5 business days to arrive within Australia. If for any reason there may be a delay, we will contact you within 2 business days. Delivery times may take longer for rural/ remote areas.
If you have any concerns, or require an item to be delivered by a certain date, please contact us so that we can try our best help you receive your order on time.
Tracking Your Order Tracking details will be emailed to you as soon as your order has been processed for shipping. If you are having trouble tracking your order, please feel free to contact us for assistance!
Returns Procedure
Once your return is received and inspected, we will be in contact to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund. If you are approved, we will process the return as a refund, exchange or store credit as quickly as possible.
30-Day Returns Policy Here at Sky Music, we want you to be 100% happy with your purchase. If you are not satisfied with your new product for any reason you may return it for a refund, exchange or store credit within 30 days of purchase. Please see the full policy for conditions, exemptions and procedures. For metro-Melbourne orders we charge a flat rate of $18 for change of mind swaps and exchanges & returns and staff will advise for interstate, rural and Victorian areas outside of the metro-Melbourne area.
