The Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition '72 Telecaster Custom Super Heavy Relic features a spectacular "color-over-color" finish—Aged Candy Apple Red over Aged Candy Tangerine Burst—expertly aged to reveal layers of history. With a heavy-duty 5/4 Quartersawn Maple neck and a versatile humbucker/single-coil configuration, this Telecaster is a high-performance work of art. The Alder body is finished in a Super Heavy Relic Lacquer, expertly worn to show the "Aged Candy Apple Red" finish over a base of "Aged Candy Tangerine Burst." The nitrocellulose lacquer finish doesn't just provide an authentic look; it allows the tonewood to breathe and resonate with maximum character.
The neck is constructed from a substantial 5/4 Quartersawn Maple blank, ensuring incredible structural stability and superior vibration transfer. It features a comfortable 60 Style Oval "C" profile, a 9.50 inch radius, and 21 Narrow Tall (6105) frets for effortless string bending and precise intonation. The Maple Quartersawn fingerboard is adorned with Micarta Black inlays and a Bone nut for classic tone and sustain. The electronics are the heart of this '72 Custom. It features a Wide Range Humbucker CuNiFe Relic in the neck position, providing the authentic, hi-fi warmth and clarity that only genuine CuNiFe magnets can offer. In the bridge, a Handwound Crushed Blackguard Telecaster Relic pickup delivers the biting "twang" and percussive growl of a vintage original. The dedicated 2 Volume and 2 Tone control layout with a 3-way toggle allows for infinite tonal blending.
