Beautiful aesthetics meet professional performance for the stage and studio

The Gibson Songwriter was introduced in the late 1990s and features a unique Gibson square-shoulder modern dreadnought body design. The Songwriter Recording Artist captures the historic tonal advantages that come from Gibson’s famed 1930s scalloped Advanced X-braced top, 25.5” long scale length, and tonewoods that are similar to the 1936 Advanced Jumbo’s, for a unique sound that is still 100% Gibson. Created for the connoisseur of acoustic recording and live performance, the Songwriter Recording Artist is a superior, powerful, and dynamic guitar for the most demanding professional players.

The Songwriter Recording Artist is handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, using a thermally aged Sitka spruce top paired with rosewood back and sides. The 25.5” scale mahogany neck has a comfortable Round profile and is fitted with a smooth-playing, bound ebony fretboard that is equipped with 20 standard frets and adorned with mother-of-pearl diamond eye inlays. The neck has a compound dovetail joint and is attached to the body using hot hide glue for a stable connection and maximum tonal transfer. The bound headstock has a rosewood veneer that features the Gibson logo and crown inlaid in mother of pearl. The nut is bone, and high-quality gold Grover® open-back tuners are fitted. The bridge is also ebony and is equipped with a bone saddle and TUSQ® bridge pins, and decorated with mother-of-pearl arrow inlays. A custom line tortoise pickguard protects the thermally aged Sitka spruce top, which features a wide abalone rosette.

As the name implies, the Songwriter Recording Artist was designed to be a great recording and live performance guitar, and now comes equipped with the Gibson-exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ pickup system. This active system uses two lightweight sensors mounted on the internal bridge plate. The sensors are matched with optimized individual preamps to deliver full-bodied, amplified acoustic tone that lets the guitar’s character and personality come through when amplified, with no impact on the unamplified tone. The Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ system offers comparable gain-before-feedback to an under-saddle pickup. The system also includes soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls that are quick and easy to access while playing, and all but invisible to your audience.

The Songwriter Recording Artist ships in a Gibson hardshell case for protection when you’re on the road, and is a great choice for modern acoustic guitarists who perform live and in the studio. Try one for yourself, and prepare to be amazed.
